BEHIND THE SCENES AT

Mapperton Country Estate

We’re thrilled to be supporting one of Britain’s most treasured historic houses through our partnership with the popular (and highly addictive) You tube channel, Mapperton Live.

Sharing the joys and challenges of life on a 21st Century English country estate, Mapperton Live follows Luke and Julie Montagu, Viscount and Viscountess Hinchingbrooke.

The Mapperton Live YouTube channel started during lockdown, when the 2,000-acre estate had to close to the public, giving Luke and Julie the innovative idea to keep Mapperton’s doors open virtually.

From seasonal strolls through the country gardens, sandwich cook-offs around the AGA, behind the scenes renovations and emergency repairs each Mapperton Live episode documents the unique adventures of family life inside Britain’s “finest manor house”.

Here’s everything you need to know before you begin watching…

MAPPERTON HOUSE

Nestled close to the picturesque town of Beaminster, West Dorset, Mapperton Estate is steeped in history, with characteristic features from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries charmingly blended together.

Since 1955 Mapperton has been home to the family of the Earl of Sandwich. Yes, we do mean the 4th Earl of Sandwich, credited with inventing the sandwich!

MEET LUKE AND JULIE MONTAGU

Viscount and Viscountess Hinchingbrooke – the future Earl and Countess of Sandwich – took over the running of Mapperton Estate from Luke’s father, Lord Sandwich, in 2020. And the down-to-earth duo have approached this passing of the baton with lashings of humour and an abundance of energy.

Never shy of rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in, it’s not unusual to find Julie wading through puddles of algae to assist with the renovations of their 17th century pool, or catch Luke racing through the halls of Mapperton House in a quest to find the source of yet-another mysterious leak.

With new episodes every week, Mapperton Live is a truly charming virtual escape. So, pop the kettle on, get comfy, and prepare to be entertained…
